Cool book. "Deep Thought" is a running gag for most computer people - a must-read.

Ahh, seeing the jacket to this book is like seeing a lost toy that I once over used. :) This is the K&R book, aka the C bible. Great reference book.

The original X motif programming book. I believe that this is the reference book. Not too many examples.

This is even *more* old-school. I'll be anyone under 35 doesn't even know what motif is. Anyway, motif is one of the earlier window managers - popular back in 1994-ish. Was the first window manager GUI APIs to offer the bevelled-edge look to a button and other window decorations. :) This book is better than the OSF book because it's written with programming in mind and not 100% reference. Good examples.

I know, it's old-school, but tcl/tk used to be a great way to prototype an application and get something working quickly if it didn't need to be super-fancy. This is the Ousterhout book and kind of the 'bible' of tcl/tk programming.

Good tutorial on python. Still getting used to things as I'm no way a guru yet, but this book is very helpful so-far.

Why would I 'like' a textbook? This is one of the only textbooks that I kept around from my college days. This book was the textbook for the one math class that I took that was not the typical trig, statistics, calculous, or any of the more common branches of mathematics. It really showed me how to apply different math practices to the real world. Combinarions and Permutations were one of the big eye-openers.
