Martin Gilbert makes reading about the world wars very accessible, which is a great accomplishment, since it's such important history. His books tend to focus on the human element: less chronology, more impact on humanity. I definitely recommend this book.

This is one of those easy/fast/fun reads you can really blast through. There's a good mix of action and food for thought - somewhat similar to the writing of Robert Heinlein. It's tough to find good new Sci-fi books to read these days - so enjoy this one!

I flipped through this quickly at a store and thought it looked fascinating. It's of course particularly interesting for people living in NYC - but anyone interested in city works and civil engineering would probably enjoy it.
